Note:  We recommend to install the Service/Hot Fix Pack of Applications Monitoring module when you apply the Service/Hot Fix Pack in the IMS Central and Probe.

Instructions to apply the Service Pack / Hotfix

  1. Shut down the IMS central server. (If IMS Central server is running as a service, stop the service from Control Panel > Services window)
  2. Take a backup of the data by executing the command <IMS-Central-Home>/bin/backup/BackupDB.bat
  3. Execute the script 'UpdateManager.bat' in the <IMS-Central-Home>/bin folder.  This opens the Update Manager tool.
  4. "Browse" to select the Service/Hot Fix Pack file (the .ppm file that you have downloaded) and click "Install".
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to apply the Service/Hot Fix Pack.
  6. Once the upgrade is complete, start the IMS Central Server.
  7. The upgrades done on the Central Server will automatically be pushed to the probes.
  8. To apply Service/Hot Fix Pack on the Applications monitoring module of IMS Probe, shut down the IMS Probe (If IMS Probe is running as a service, stop the service from Control Panel > Services window) if it is running.
  9. Execute the script "updateManager.bat' in the <IMS-Probe-Home>/applications/bin folder.  This opens the Update Manager tool of the IMS applications monitoring module.
  10. "Browse" to select the Service/Hot Fix Pack file (the .ppm file that you have downloaded) and click "Install".
  11. Follow the on-screen instructions to apply the Service/Hot Fix Pack.
  12. Once the upgrade is complete, start the IMS Probe.

Note:  As mentioned above, IMS upgrade from Version 5.0 (Build Number from 5000 to 5005) to IMS 5.5 Version (Build Number 5502) involves the following steps:

(a)    Upgrade from IMS 5.0 (Build Number from 5000 to 5005) to IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5500) manually in the IMS Central server

(b)    Upgrade from IMS 5.0 (Build Number from 5000 to 5005) to IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5500) in the Probe. This is an automated process and does not involve any manual intervention.

(c)    Upgrade from IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5500) to IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5502) manually in the IMS Central server

(d)    Upgrade from IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5500) to IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5502) in the IMS Probe. This is supposed to be an automated process as like step (b). However, in certain cases, you need to stop the MySQL process by invoking the stopMySQL.bat script available under the <IMS_Probe_Home>\bin directory and restart the IMS Probe service to download the IMS 5.5 (Build Number 5502) patch from the IMS Central server automatically for upgrading.
